Police release name of possible homicide victim

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Police continue to investigate a suspicious death in Southwest Lubbock.

Officers found a dead body inside a truck at the Boulders at Lakeridge Apartment complex around 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday morning.

Police found the body of 48-year-old Paul Allen Brown in the driver's seat of a pickup parked in the southeast parking lot of the complex.

Police say Brown is from Tulia, but more recently had moved to the Boulder at Lakeridge apartments in Lubbock.

Residents at the complex say they noticed the truck because it was pulled out, blocking part of the driving lane since this weekend, but no one NewsChannel 11 talked to noticed a body in the truck.

"No, not at all, and actually I was getting kind of annoyed that it was parked there. I was actually thinking of walking over to it and leaving a note like can you move your vehicle, and I'm kind of glad I didn't," says Dawn Slekas, a resident at Boulders at Lakeridge.

Police say it's possible the body had been in the truck for a few days, but they won't be able to tell the time or cause of death until they get autopsy result back.

They did issue a homicide call out because they say it's suspicious death, but have not officially ruled it a homicide yet.

If it is ruled a homicide, it will be Lubbock's thirteenth this year.

Captain Greg Stevens said they do not have a suspect, but are following some leads in the investigation.

"We do have some people the detectives need to talk to. Now these may be witnesses, maybe involved in other ways. We don't have a developed suspect at this time, but those are things the detectives are working on. Again, I'll say if this does turn out to be a homicide, I feel confident that we'll be able to identify a suspect relatively quickly," says Captain Greg Stevens of the Lubbock Police Department.

NewsChannel 11 will continue to follow this investigation and bring you any new details as we get them on the news and at kcbd.com.
