Lubbock man arrested on murder for hire charges

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - A Lubbock man has been arrested for successfully hiring a hit man to murder his ex-wife, according to numerous media reports in Wisconsin.

39-year-old Kimberly Smith was found stabbed in her home on October 1st in Oconomowoc, Wisconsin and her 4-year-old son was in the house when the murder occurred.

Darren Wold, the father of the 4-year-old that was left alive in the house, was arrested in Lubbock on Wednesday and is in custody in the Lubbock County Jail. Wold moved to Lubbock earlier this year.

Two other men have also been arrested. Justin Patrick Welch, the man believed to be the hit man from Mexico City, Mexico and Jack E. Johnson, a friend of Wold are being held in San Diego.

All three men are being held on a $2 million bond and are awaiting extradition to Wisconsin.
