LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -Lubbock is not on the state's list of cities to get rainbow trout in our local playa lakes. In years past the state would stock Lubbock playas with trout, in part, to encourage parents to teach their kids to fish. But this year is different.
An email message from the Lubbock office of Texas Parks and Wildlife says the city no longer pays for the trout and without a partnership with the city the state can't continue. Roughly 100 other Texas cities are participating in the program.
