LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) – You remember the drug Vioxx, which was taken off the market in 2004. A new study shows there were red flags about the popular pain reliever four years before that. Researchers pooled data from 30 studies involving Vioxx for the plaintiff lawsuit against Merck, the makers of Vioxx, and they revealed safety concerns back in 2000, indicating the drug had an increased risk of side effects, including death.
The FDA now requires all trial results to be published so that doctors and patients can retrieve that information before deciding whether to start a new drug treatment.
