UPDATED: North Lubbock County grassfire threatened homes

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - A structure fire that started as a grass fire filled the air between New Deal and Shallowater with black smoke.

Around 2:20 p.m. on Wednesday, New Deal and Shallowater Fire Departments were called out to a grass fire that came within a foot of a home. Two homes were threatened by the fire.

The fire started at 2620 Immaculate Street, which is about seven miles from New Deal. Five cars were on fire.

The fire has been contained, but firefighters are still working to keep the flames from sparking up again.
