Fired Animal Services Director wants his job back

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Fired Lubbock Animal Services Director Kevin Overstreet wants his job back.

Overstreet filed a written request for a grievance hearing Wednesday. In it he asks that the city manager, mayor and several others be made to testify.

Overstreet has been at odds with the city for more than a year when he was stripped of his duties as the emergency management coordinator. He claims he was the target of retaliation because he made allegations of criminal wrongdoing against current and former city officials.

Overstreet tells NewsChannel 11 he is willing to have settlement talks. "I think we are all adults here and I think we can sit down at the table together and let's do what's best for our citizens because unfortunately this matter is going to cost the city x number of dollars to defend and obviously it's going to cost money on our side as well," he said.

City officials have turned down the chance to respond to Overstreet's claims.
