Christmas thieves hit Lubbock home

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -The holidays are supposed to be about spreading cheer, and many do that through Christmas decorations. However, one Lubbock couple had their holiday joy stolen.

Jillian Thompson and Kim Roeberg live in the Tech Terrace neighborhood at 3202 27th Street. On Thursday, Roeberg put up their Christmas decorations with pride, including an 8 foot inflatable snow globe that cost them about $250.

At about 2:30 Friday morning they heard noises outside their home, and this morning they discovered someone had stolen their yard decorations. "I'm really surprised. It's just something small. We try to lighten up the neighborhood some by decorating and all that stuff. People just come and rip away what you put up. I had planned to put up some more stuff, but right now I don't see any reason if it's going to be like this," said Roeberg.

The couple hopes whoever stole the snow globe will return it to their front yard.

The Lubbock Police Department says they will increase patrols in both marked and unmarked cars over the next few weeks in areas considered historically high holiday crime areas.
