LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Saturday a fourth candidate for Lubbock County Sheriff urged folks to get involved.
"It seems like politics is king of going down, and I'd like to see more people interested, more people involved. I mean, there are four candidates at least for the Sheriff's job. It will make it more interesting and give the people a more clear choice," said Jesse Pena who will run for Lubbock County Sheriff.
Pena held a strategy meeting Saturday evening to come up with good ideas for the primary election. Pena invited folks from Lubbock and surrounding communities to help get more people motivated. He says the next step is fundraising.
Currently, Pena is the Chief of Police for Lubbock-Cooper I.S.D. He's also served on the Plainvew and Tulia police forces. Pena joins candidates Don Carter, Ronnie O'Neal and current Sheriff Kelly Rowe in the race. They announced their candidacies earlier in the week. The last day for candidates to file is January 4th.
