LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - A South Plains man admits he was writing fake checks. Court records say Jeffery Eady made up checks in the name of Shannon Electrical Company and he knew that no such company exists.
Court records say Eady got caught because he was involved in a car crash and a DPS trooper went through Eady's vehicle as part of the crash investigation. The trooper discovered cash, and merchandise in the car, along with receipts from Lubbock businesses in the name of the fictitious company.
He'll be sentenced later to no more than 25 years in prison.
