The City of Lubbock says there are at least half-a-dozen billboards in town that are either too big, too tall or just plain unattractive, all of which are violations of zoning codes.
So, the City says those billboards must either come down or conform to the City's aesthetic standards. The City recommended to the Lubbock Planning and Zoning Commission that the owner of those billboards be given more time to bring them up to code.
The commission was set to vote on the issue Tuesday night, but tabled it until May.
The company that owns the billboards says it will do whatever it takes to meet zoning requirements.
