LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Whether you are Christmas shopping or eating out with family, remember to consider your local businesses first this holiday season.
Supporting locally-owned businesses let's you "pay it forward" by keeping your money working for your local economy. Recent studies show that for every $100 spent at a locally owned business, $45 stays in the local economy. That's three times the amount of money generated by a national chain. That's easy math! Plus spending with local owners creates jobs and expands the tax base.
Consider this; calling an 800 number or shopping online may provide some instant gratification, but in the long run it may cost more than what a local business actually returns to your community.
You want service? Local business owners typically have a high level of expertise and a passion for the products they sell. And they tend to have a greater interest in getting to know their customers - customers who are also their neighbors and friends.
Local businesses can only survive if they are supported by local customers. That's you and me because the future of our community is in all of our best interest. So remember, pay it forward -buy local, eat local, be local.
