LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Some Lubbockites who have lost spouses or parents in the war on terror since 9/11 have been given an all-expense paid trip to the Dallas/Ft. Worth area to gather with other families who have lost family in the war.
American Airlines partners with Snowball Express to bring more than 1,300 surviving kids and spouses of America's fallen heroes to gather with other families who have lost military dads or moms in the war on terror since 9/11.
The non-profit Snowball Express aims to provide a few days of joy for lives that have been shattered by the loss of a mother, father, husband or wife.
As the official airline of Snowball Express, American Airlines is providing a majority of the air travel, and all of the flight crews are donating their time to participate in this special program. Eight chartered aircraft will be making their way across the U.S., stopping in 23 cities, including Lubbock, to pick up Snowball Families.
Coming up tonight on NewsChannel 11, we will tell you about the emotions that were filling the air as the one of the Lubbock families were getting ready to board the plane.
