Lubbock part of world-wide candle lighting ceremony

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) – Several Lubbock area families gathered Sunday night to honor and remember the lives of children who have died in the past year.  Organizers say the ceremony gives those who are hurting an opportunity to connect with others in a similar situation and find support.

"You don't really speak of it often," says Tyneal Buckner with Covenant Women's and Children'sHospital.  "You kind of put it in a soft, quiet place in your heart and cherish it, but I think everyone really appreciates in our community having a time where they can come out and stand shoulder to shoulder and heart to heart and really try to mend each other's souls after losing a child."

Covenant health system hosted the compassionate friends remembrance ceremony as part of a worldwide candle lighting   It connects thousands of people across the globe as each group lights their candles at seven o'clock.  Organizers believe it is the largest mass candle lighting the world.
