Funeral services were held Saturday for the mayor of Plainview. Lloyd C. Woods passed away Wednesday following a month-long battle with lung cancer. He was 82.
Woods was honored Saturday morning with a 21 gun salute. As a first lieutenant in the U.S. Army, he served his country during World War II.
Besides a career in insurance, and later in politics, he also served as a scout master for 14 years. The Boys Scouts of Troop 250 stood graveside to pay tribute to their natural born leader.
Woods is survived by his wife of 59 years, Madge, along with a son, a daughter, and their families. The position of mayor will be filled in a special election in May.
