Clevin Hannah scored 24 points to spark Wichita State past No. 16 Texas Tech 85-83 on Saturday night, giving the Red Raiders their first loss of the season.
J.T. Durley scored 14 of his career-high 20 points in the first half for the Shockers (10-1), who trailed for less than 90 seconds of the game's final 27 minutes.
John Roberson scored 24 points to lead Texas Tech.
The real trouble for both teams in the first half was turnovers—each had 11. Texas Tech standout Mike Singletary had six of those, including two during a 12-1 run that pushed Wichita State's lead to 21-14 with 5:16 left in the half. The advantage was 35-21 at halftime.
Five points from Roberson helped the Red Raiders (9-1) go on a 10-4 run to start the second half. Texas Tech slowly chipped away from there, until D'Walyn Roberts brook loose for a layup and converted the three-ponit play to make it 53-53 with 8:24 remaining.
Texas Tech led 61-57 with 5:23 to play before Wichita State scored nine straight points—including two 3s by Hannah to make it 66-61.
