South Plains Wildlife Rehabilitation Center rescues Bald Eagle

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - South Plains Wildlife Rehabilitation Center held their annual open house Saturday. The non-profit group rescues and cares for injured animals. Friday night they took in an American Bald Eagle found on a ranch in Tulia.

"The eagle is in an oxygen chamber at the present. It's having trouble breathing. It's in respiratory distress," said Gail Barnes.

The group hopes to nurse the eagle back to health and release it back into the wild. If they cannot return it to its natural habitat it may become a wildlife ambassador and used for educational purposes.
