One Dead in Head-On Collision

The jaws of life were called out to a wreck near 50th St. and Avenue U on Sunday evening. Lubbock Police responded to a head-on collision just before 8:00 p.m. Sunday.

A grey Buick Park Avenue and a white Ford Explorer hit head-on in a turning lane. The male driver and the female passenger in the Park Avenue, who are said to be in their 70's, were transported to Covenant Medical Center with moderate injuries.

The male driver of the Explorer suffered serious injuries and was transported to University Medical Center along with the two passengers in his vehicle. One of the five being transported died on the way to the hospital.
