Updated: Lubbock judge made the Texas Monthly Bum Steer list

By James Clark | email

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Lubbock again makes the not so prestigious Bum Steer list.

The current issue of Texas Monthly lists Lubbock County Judge Tom Head as one of the many Bum Steer winners, for his political display in August of this year.

Head posted, among other things, mug shots of people arrested while wearing Barack Obama T-shirts. Head denied charges of racism and the display was taken down.

Judge Head says he has not read the Bum Steer article nor does he plan to.  Head says at the time most people who contacted him were supportive, not critical.

Head also tells NewsChannel 11, "I would say it was not an issue of moral outrage so much as it was an issue of partisan politics."

Below is the exact wording of the Bum Steer.

The Audacity of Head

Lubbock County judge Tom Head posted inflammatory flyers on a courthouse bulletin board, including one that tried to "spark conversation" with mug shots of people who'd been arrested wearing Obama T-shirts.
