The city of Lubbock will break ground for the widening of Quaker Avenue next week. Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. city leaders will meet near the United Market Street at 98th and Quaker for the ground breaking.

Saturday afternoon Lubbock Police discovered a mother dead inside an apartment near 33rd and Avenue U. Authorities say the victim's oldest child contacted their aunt, who called police just after 3:00 p.m.
