Authorities in southeast Texas and Louisiana are searching for a man who allegedly took a deputy's gun during a traffic stop. Authorities are looking for Orenthel Francois.
On Tuesday morning a Chambers County Sheriff's Deputy pulled Francois over near Winnie, East of Houston. Francois and two other people were in the car. The deputy found cocaine in the car and tried to arrest Francois. At that point, Francois allegedly grabbed the officer's gun and ran into the woods.
Police say Francois fired shots at passing cars, car jacked a vehicle and headed into Louisiana. Francois released the kidnapped driver of that vehicle just across the Texas border. Francois was last seen heading North toward Shreveport, Louisiana.
The two people who were in the car with Francois are now in police custody.
