Consider This Special Edition... Leach Termination

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - As I predicted Tuesday night, Coach Mike Leach has been fired, and it's a sad day for Texas Tech fans.

For the record, Leach wasn't fired for how he treated Adam James. Tech has shown us nothing to prove he mistreated any players. This was about three things - money, control, and power. Tech unsuccessfully tried to tie their efforts to fire Leach to allegations that just don't hold water.

I do want to thank all of you for sending in over 700 emails to me that are in favor of keeping Mike Leach as head coach. I am still forwarding them by the hundreds to the chancellor and the president. I've tried to forward them to the regents but it appears they are not accepting emails at this time.

Consider this; Coach Leach was at the peak of his success after winning more games than any other football coach in Tech history, and he has a cult following that was very positive for the university and Lubbock.

Now the search begins for a new leader and my crystal ball tells me they'll be looking to balance someone who can win with someone they can control.

On a personal note, I would like to thank Coach Leach for everything he did for Lubbock, Texas Tech, and all the fans. I still love Texas Tech and the red and black will live on. I hope those in charge can learn from tragedies like this and try to keep good coaches, not run them off. Chancellors, presidents, and coaches will come and go; it's the fans that will always be here. So join me and let's keep our guns up!
