Mike Leach termination the talk of the town

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Whether you agree with the decision or not, the talk of the day was, of course, the firing of Coach Mike Leach and Jerry's Barber Shop at 66th and University was no exception.

After Wednesday's announcement, the overwhelming reaction is extreme disappointment. "I'm proud to be from Lubbock, when I travel and I travel quite a bit and tell them where I'm from, I'm proud to say I'm from Lubbock and Texas Tech but after today, I'm almost ashamed," said Paul Parker.

And many across town are pointing their finger at Texas Tech Athletic Director Gerald Myers. "As long as Gerald Myers is there, he is gone and it's a shame," said one customer.

"The consensus of the barber shop is to hang Myers and keep Leach that's been this topic of this day," said an employee.

While the majority of fans feel it was a bad move on the university, but there are some that think otherwise. "It will depend a lot on what happens in the next few days. I think people will be surprised how it settles down once they get the word out of why they let him go," said one Tech fan.

But whoever is the coach many say they still plan to support the Red Raiders in this weekend's bowl game.
