UPDATE: City Councilwoman's company fined by TCEQ

By James Clark | email

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) – City Councilwoman Linda DeLeon faces a fine by the Texas Commission On Environmental Quality.  The violations were both self-reported and self-corrected.

DeLeon told NewsChannel 11 back in December that she had to shut down All American Concrete due to economic reasons.  Prior to that, DeLeon's company exceeded legal limits of her effluent discharge permit in both July of 2008 and September of 2008.

DeLeon says an employee took water samples from the wrong location.  And, TCEQ says by January of 2009 the violations had been corrected.  Nevertheless TCEQ administrators have assessed a fine of $2,279.

TCEQ Commissioners are expected to approve the fine during a January 13th meeting.
