LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) – New research finds obesity may cause even more health problems in Americans than smoking. The new study from Columbia University finds the proportion of smokers dropped about 18% between 1993 and 2008, while the proportion of obese people jumped a whopping 85%!
After studying both those groups, researchers decided that although smoking had a bigger impact on deaths during the study period and obesity continues to have a bigger impact on illness and quality of life.
