City leaders say for years residents wanted a recycling program in Levelland, so when it started last year, they knew there would be community interest, but nothing like this.
Already under construction is Levelland's new rail park. The $8.3-million project started a little more than two years ago and will lay down 21-thousand feet of rail road track that loops around 200 acres.

Hockley County broke ground on a $15 million Multi-Purpose Event Center. The new event center will be at 2320 South State Hwy 385, across from the Levelland Municipal Airport.

Police say they pulled over Daniel Arguijo, 62 and Jeremiah Arguijo, 25. When they stopped, they say Jeremiah Arguijo ran. Police caught up with him near 35th Street and Flint Avenue around 3:30 p.m.

The victim was hit around 4 p.m. in the southbound lanes near 19th Street. EMS took them to the hospital with serious injuries, but authorities on the scene say they didn't appear life threatening.

Starting Thursday, TxDOT will close a segment of Avenue A to install a storm sewer across the roadway. The closure is expected to remain in place for the next three to four weeks.
