LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Tommy Tuberville will become Texas Tech's new head football coach. He spent the past year working for ESPN, but before that he served as the head coach of the Auburn Tigers for 10 years until 2008. His tenure there included a perfect season in 2004 and a string of teams that contended for SEC Championships. According to his Auburn bio, the 55-year-old coach had an 85-and-40 record at Auburn.
He began his collegiate coaching career in 1980 at Arkansas State University. He's also coached at Perennial College, University of Miami, and Texas A&M. He served as head coach for four years at the University of Mississippi.
In the past he's received such awards as the Associated Press, Paul "Bear" Bryant, FCA, SEC and Walter Camp Coach of the Year.
