Changing city charter is up to you, Councilmen say

By James Clark | email

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - City Hall is your local government.  You should have a say in if, or how, it changes.  That's how Councilmen John Leonard and Paul R. Beane feel.  They're hosting a pair of meetings on possibly changing the City Charter.  Leonard hopes above all changes are made to keep politicians and bureaucrats from taking money out of Lubbock Power & Light.

Leonard says, "Right now there are four votes to not raid the coffers of LP&L.  That could change with the next council and potentially put us back in the situation we were in four years ago."

Councilman Leonard's Town Hall meeting is on Monday, January 11th, at 6:00 p.m., in the Whiteside Elementary library, 7508 Albany Avenue.  Councilman Paul Beane's Town Hall meeting is on Tuesday, January 12th, at 6:00 p.m., in the Honey Elementary School cafeteria, 3615 86th Street.
