LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - The unregistered sex offender who was staying inside a storage unit will instead be staying in a federal prison. Virgil Lane pleaded guilty back in October to a charge of failing to register as a sex offender.
Lane was sentenced Friday to 18 months in prison. Lubbock police got a tip that Lane was staying in the Bullseye Mini Storage units in the 1600 block of 45th Street. Court records say Lane was staying there with the manager's permission.
Lane is under a lifetime obligation to register as a sex offender because of a 1999 California conviction for lewd and lascivious acts with a child.
