Clemmons Submits Letter of Resignation

The Lubbock Independent School District is now officially losing its superintendent. We told you Thursday night that Jack Clemmons was considering retirement, but now we've learned Clemmons has submitted his letter of resignation, effective June 30, 2003. Clemmons described the decision as one of "mixed emotions," but one that was in the "best interest of his family."

Deputy Superintendent Wayne Havens is set to fill the vacancy on an interim basis, and sources say Havens has the ambition to take on the job full time.
