LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - A fund has been set up for the family of a Lubbock teen who died in a house fire Sunday. Nineteen-year-old Tyrell Smith was pronounced dead at University Medical Center, after a fire at his home in the 2100 block of Duke Avenue.
Investigators say the fire was caused when Smith began cooking, then fell asleep. There were no working smoke detectors in the home.
A fund has been set up in Tyrell Smith's name at First Convenience Bank locations. They are located inside Wal-Mart Supercenters.
