Police say excessive speed and alcohol may have played a role in a fatal rollover in east Lubbock on Saturday night. 19 year-old Marvin White was traveling west near the 3000 block of East 19th St. around 3:00 a.m. Sunday morning.
Police believe that White lost control of his Chevy Cavalier and hit a power line poll, causing his car to flip, partially ejecting White from the vehicle. White was pronounced dead on the scene. Police say he was not wearing a seatbelt.
His 19 year-old passenger, Tonya Rodriguez, was transported to University Medical Center and remains in serious condition.
