Biographical Background Information

• Married to Patti Howard, a Lubbock native, for 18 years We have two sons, John Michael (sophomore) and Braden (freshman) who attend Lubbock High School.

• Active leader in Boy Scout Troop 157 where both of my sons have obtained the rank of Life Scout and are working toward Eagle Scout.

• Member, Board of Directors of Lubbock Chamber of Commerce.

• Former chairman, also terms as secretary and treasurer, of the MidAmerica region of Printing and Imaging Association. A regional trade association serving 800 printing businesses in Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas and Western Missouri. MidAmerica is the third largest printing affiliate in the country.

• Leadership Lubbock alumni, class of 2005.

• Board member and treasurer of Communities in Schools.

• Member and past board member of the Greater Southwest Lubbock Rotary Club.

• Member of Sales Executive Association of Lubbock. An organization promotes business within itself.

• Member of Lubbock Executive Association, another association that promotes business within itself.

• Member of the National Rifle Association.

• Member of Texas Bighorn Society, an organization restoring bighorn sheep to Texas.

• Licensed pilot.

• Former treasurer of the Lubbock County Republican Party for two Primary Election cycles (2004 & 2006).

• Former officer (1990's) in the Lubbock County Young Republicans club.

• Past member of the Lubbock County Republican Party Executive Committee / Precinct Chairman.

• Purchased Midtown Printing in Lubbock in the summer of 1993. In one month's time, went from working as an accountant to the owner of a printing company, moving from Denver to Lubbock and experiencing the birth of our first child.

• Worked for Goldfields Mining Company, Golden, Colorado were I started in corporate accounting and was promoted to exploration controller. This position was responsible for tracking approximately 50 exploration projects in seven countries with expenditures of nearly $50 million per year.

• Worked for Coopers & Lybrand, Denver, Colorado as a CPA. Supervised and managed the Columbia audit (a $5 billion financial institution, under a FSLIC assisted merger agreement), the City and County of Denver audit, including the Water Board and the airport, which at the time was preparing to issue over one billion dollars of bonds.

• Worked for McGladrey & Pullen, Cheyenne, Wyoming, as a CPA, performing tax, review and audit work for small to medium sized businesses and governmental entities.

• Attends Lakeridge United Methodist Church.

• Reared in Rock Springs, Wyoming, attended public schools from kindergarten through the University of Wyoming. Graduated with a degree in accounting in 1984.
