Lubbock leader of Latin Kings faces updated indictment

By James Clark | email

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Jose Robledo Nava, who is accused of ordering a drive by murder, was back in Lubbock federal court last week.  Nava faces updates charges along with James Johnathan Cole.

A superseding indictment accuses them of six charges including the use of a firearm to commit murder in relation to a drug trafficking crime. Prosecutors decided late last year not to pursue the death penalty against Nava.  Official statements say Nava was the Texas leader of the Latin Kings street gang.

In May of 2008, six people were shot in Big Spring. Two people died, three if you include an unborn child.  In April 2009, an FBI dive team found parts of an AK-47 White River east of Crosbyton.
