LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) – This is prime season for tanning beds, as young people around the country are preparing for spring break, but studies have shown the consequences could be an increased risk of skin cancer.
The Food and Drug Administration says it is considering tougher warnings on tanning beds, which are currently regulated under the category of low-risk medical devices. In March, the FDA says it has scheduled a public hearing to consider whether they should reclassify tanning beds so the warning could be stricter.
