Lubbock unemployment rate up for December

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) – Lubbock's unemployment rate is up according to numbers released Friday by the Texas Workforce Commission. Lubbock went up from 5.3% unemployment in November to 5.4% unemployment in December. 

The number of people who had jobs in Lubbock went down from 137,500 to 136,700 as estimated by TWC.  Comparing December 2009 with December 2008 shows Lubbock unemployment went up from 3.8% to 5.4% during that 12 month time period.
