Sentencing for 2006 murder to begin

LUBBOCK, TX(KCBD)- Jury selection for the murder trial of a Lubbock man began Monday. Selection was for the murder trial of 56-year-old Jesse Juan Herrera.

He is accused of killing his ex-girlfriend, Rufugio Avalos Montez, in December of 2006.

Police say he stabbed her multiple times during an argument in the 600 block of North Flint. On Monday Herrera entered a guilty plea, he could face up to life in prison.
