LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Police say 58-year-old Sharon Caughran died when her pickup truck slammed into the back of a semi-truck. Lubbock first responders arrived on the scene shortly after 3 p.m. at the intersection of  U.S. 84 and Martin Luther King Boulevard.

Officials say Caughran's tan GMC pickup hit the back of a gravel truck and say there were no signs of skid marks on the road. Caughran was pronounced dead at the scene. Police say the driver of the 18 wheeler was not injured and his truck did not move after impact. Investigators believe the light turned green and the semi-truck driver shifted gears to drive through the intersection and that's when the collision occurred.

Traffic was diverted for nearly three hours while police processed the scene. The truck is registered to a company out of Dallas.
