Wintry blast to hit by weeks end

LUBBOCK, TX(KCBD)- This morning expect low clouds and patchy fog, mainly southeast of Lubbock. Skies will be partly cloudy and there are light winds and cold temperatures forecasted. By lunchtime clouds will increase along with light winds and warmer temperatures for this time of year. Cloudy skies, scattered thunderstorms and winds should arrive in the area after midnight.

Thursday is forecasted to have a wintry mix then snow, the northeastern areas mainly in the morning and the southeastern areas in evening. For Lubbock expect rain in the morning with a wintry mix in the early afternoon and snow by late afternoon. Conditions also will be windy, limiting visibility and temperatures are expected to be much colder. Because ice accumulation is possible along with evening snow accumulation, travel conditions will deteriorate.

By Friday the snow will end early in the day, hazardous travel conditions can be expected.
