Crews spend Friday cleaning up after Mother Nature

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Following Thursday's winter storm, the ice and snow were simply too much weight for many tree limbs and branches to bear. Mother Nature's storm snapped hundreds of trees and left bushes and branches limp.

Local crews spent Friday day answering calls from folks needing their help and their chainsaws. "We need thawing weather to get ice off limbs and power lines and assess the damage and health of the trees. Most lawn care companies that have chipper will be busy all next week," said Joe Hinkle, Cutting Edge Lawn Service.

That's when Hinkle says the real work will start.  He says after the ice thaws his team will go back and recycle the branches into mulch.

The larger the tree you have the more it will cost to remove it. However, the city will pick up your limbs that block the street but if they are on your property the city says it's your responsibility.

If you have any questions you can call the 3-1-1.
