LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) – A new emergency contraceptive approved in Europe works longer, and is more effective, than what is available in the U.S. The drug is called Ella One and it is not approved yet in the U.S., but drug studies in Europe indicate Ella One has less of a risk of pregnancy and works up to five days after unprotected sex.
Unlike Plan B, which is available in the U.S. and works up to three days after contraception, but who knows if it will be approved here. Some argue those two extra days will lead to risky sexual behavior.
