LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - The man who police say fatally pulled the trigger outside of an East Lubbock night club is now behind bars, and the victim's family says they are relieved.

Corey Conner, 24, has been on the run since December 20, 2009 when police say he shot and killed 23-year-old Bobby Jones at the Fiesta Ballroom on East 4th Street.

Lubbock police recently received a tip on Crime Line that Conner was staying at an apartment in Albuquerque, New Mexico. L.P.D. then contacted authorities there and Albuquerque police arrested Conner without incident around 3:20 p.m. Sunday afternoon.

Jones's family says it was a senseless death because they don't think Conner meant to shoot Jones that night.  The arrest brings them some closure. "It really hurts. I'm glad that they got him because he should have known what he was doing before he did that," said Jones's aunt, Charlesetta Pollard.

Conner remains behind bars in Albuquerque. Authorities are now working to extradite him to Lubbock.
