NTS recovering after rough times in December

By James Clark | email

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - One of Lubbock's biggest employers continues recovering from some recent bumps in the road.

NTS laid off 22 workers in Lubbock in December. It came as NTS's parent company, Xfone, was not able to fully pay off bond debt on its due date.

15-year NTS President and CEO Barbara Baldwin, formerly known as Barbara Andrews, was replaced by new NTS President Brad Worthington, which was also in December.

Baldwin is now an Executive Vice President. Late last month NTS's parent company sold off properties in the U.K., and NTS hired 8 new workers. Additionally, the company has 10 new open positions in Lubbock this month, according to Worthington, and the company's major fiber project between Lubbock and Levelland is going well.
