Lubbock, TX (KCBD) –The death investigation of a mother and daughter continues. Deputies discovered their bodies Monday evening in their home northwest of Wolfforth.

Deputies with the Lubbock County Sheriff's Office are waiting on a preliminary report from the Medical Examiner's office which would state a cause of death and confirm who these two females were.

Investigators are working to determine exactly when this house in West Lubbock County turned into a crime scene. "Basically because of the time it looks like from the point of what ever took place in that residence happened to when we identified last night there has been several days that passed," says Sheriff Kelly Rowe who spoke Tuesday afternoon about the investigation.

A neighbor says there had been no activity at the house in the last few days, concerned he called the house and knocked on the door but received no response and that is when he called deputies.

"We received a check welfare because it was both a mother and daughter had not been seen," says Sheriff Rowe. Deputies arrived at 9719 County Road 6940 and peered through the windows and saw what looked like a victim. They walked into the house and discovered the bodies of a mother and daughter in the same room.

"At this point our investigation continues. We're trying to get a positive identity on both individuals," adds Sheriff Rowe who says the circumstances of these two deaths are suspicious. "Right now we know there were gun shots involved but again we are going to have to wait until we have the autopsy results we are not going to have definitive information," says Sheriff Rowe.

Investigators say there was no sign of forced entry, and there is no suspect at this time. Sources close to the investigation say this may be a possible murder suicide but the Sheriff's Office cannot confirm that that is the situation.

Frenship School District confirms the address where deputies found the mother and daughter lies within the district's boundaries but at this time cannot confirm if the 12-year-old girl went to one of their schools.
