Gas prices have dropped in Lubbock by up to ten cents a gallon within a week. And that means more money in your pocket and less of it in your tank.
Let's say you have a vehicle with a 25 gallon gas tank typical of trucks and SUV's. If you fill up you're actually paying $2.50 less than you were last week. Prices dropped at some gas stations seven cents overnight.

NewsChannel 11 found prices in Lubbock as low as $1.47 and some places $1.49. But the state's average remains to be steady at $1.61. The numbers across the state, we were told by AAA that Corpus Christi typically has the lowest gas in the state. But it looks as though Lubbock does.
Even AAA says that's surprising and didn't have an explanation for why Lubbock's numbers are low. Local oil experts say there are two main reasons why gas prices are dropping: The Venezuela strike is over and the coalition forces are finding fewer sabotaged oil fields in Iraq than they expected to find.
