LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) – Texas Tech Regents met behind closed doors Wednesday afternoon, presumably about the lawsuit with fired football coach Mike Leach.
The agenda called for "Discussion of pending and potential litigation involving Texas Tech University System; and otherwise to consult with and seek the advice of legal counsel." Texas Tech and Leach's legal team have a Friday deadline to complete mediation.
Shortly after 3:00 p.m., the Regents began the closed door meeting, with a combination of officials in the room and others participating by phone. At approximately 3:55 p.m., after the executive session, Vice Chairman of the Regents, Jerry E. Turner, moved "to proceed with litigation as discussed in executive session within the parameters set forth in the executive session."
The motion was approved and the meeting adjourned. Texas Tech officials declined to comment, as both sides are under a gag order.
