LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) – A new study finds some people who are severely obese are missing entire sections of their DNA.
Researchers in London studied the DNA of more than 16,000 people and they found that every time someone was missing that big chunk of DNA, they were also severely obese. Experts say this is likely not the only reason for weight trouble, but it appears the deleted DNA could be the reason for obesity in some adults.
The study also found the people with the missing DNA were normal weight as toddlers, but became increasingly obese with age.
