About Jim:
To Jim Landtroop, Common Sense Conservative Leadership is more than just a campaign slogan, it's a battle cry. A successful small businessman and dedicated family man, he is committed to representing the values and beliefs of the people of this district which are clearly conservative. Like most people in West Texas, Jim is tired of our big-spending over-reaching government, and he is stepping forward to cut spending, reduce taxes, create jobs, protect our ballot box through voter id, and tell Washington DC that Texans can govern themselves.
Landtroop is a 5th generation Texan and a resident of Plainview, Texas. He understands what it means to live, work and raise a family in West Texas. Jim graduated from Texas A&M University in 1991 with a degree in Business Management. Today, he owns a small insurance agency in Plainview, where he takes care of over 1400 clients and creates jobs in his community. Landtroop is an active civic leader involved in many aspects of the community including the Lions Club, Chamber of Commerce, United Way and the American Cancer Society. As the Men's Varsity Basketball Coach for Plainview Christian Academy, Landtroop led the team to the State semi-finals in 2009.
A lifelong social and fiscal conservative, Jim has served as a precinct chairman, election judge, convention delegate, and county co-chairman for U.S. Congressman Randy Neugebauer's successful 2004 campaign. Congressman Neugebauer tapped Jim to serve on his Financial Services Advisory Board from 2005 through the present time. Governor Rick Perry appointed Landtroop to the Brazos River Authority Board in 2009 where he was able to have an impact on water policy for West Texas.
The Landtroop family helped found Plainview Bible Church where Jim serves on the worship team as a drummer, as a facilitator of home groups and as an Elder.
Jim and his wife, Cathy, have been married for 17 years and are the proud parents of 3 children: Braden (14), Kenneth (13) and Lauren Grace (9).
