LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) – The first Friday in February is the time to begin wearing red. The "Go Red for Women" initiative is a campaign launched by the American Heart Association to increase awareness that heart disease is the number one killer in women.

"One in three women will die of heart disease as compared to one in thirty women who will actually succumb to breast cancer, so it's just really important that people all aware that heart disease is the number one killer and most folks aren't even aware that they're at risk for heart disease," said Lisa Johnson, director of the American Heart Association in Lubbock.

Be sure to grab something red out of your closet this Friday. In honor of Go Red Day, Covenant will be selling heart pins in the lobby for $2.00.
