Marine Killed in Iraq Once Attended Texas Tech

As of Saturday night, six American soldiers had been killed in the war on Iraq. Two in ground combat and four others when their chopper went down near the Iraqi boarder.

One of the men aboard that helicopter was Corporal Brian Matthew Kennedy from Houston. Kennedy attended Texas Tech's School of Mechanical Engineering from 1997 to 1999.

But as the Houston Chronicle reports, Kennedy told his father his calling was to be a Marine, so he left school early to fulfill his dream. Brian Kennedy was 25 years-old.
