LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - An arrest warrant is issued for a former employee of Tejas Motors for allegedly stealing tens of thousands of dollars from the Lubbock car dealer.

Fifty-four year old Estevan Chavez is charged with misappropriation of funds from $20,000 to $100,000. In October, Tejas Motors hired a new collector who noticed discrepancies in some customers' accounts. Managers at Tejas Motors told police that Chavez allegedly took cash payments from customers, and deferred the payments on their account to the end of their note.

Managers at Tejas claim the payments never showed up on the accounts, and the balances never changed. They say Chavez was pocketing the cash payments. Chavez was fired in October when the thefts were discovered.
